Sir Brian Langstaff has most kindly agreed to speak to the Society on the subject of How does infected blood affect employment? Does the Infected Blood Inquiry provide the answer?
Sir Brian Langstaff will cover (amongst other matters) what the Inquiry dealt with; how it dealt with it (with DEI at the forefront); what lessons can be learned from its findings; and the potential implications of its recommendations for employment practice. Is whistle-blowing actually an answer? How do we cope with a defensive culture and closing of ranks? How do we prioritise a safety culture? How do we manage to listen to the patient voice? Is Inquiry work of interest to employment lawyers?
His talk will be preceded by the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
Both Sir Brian’s talk and the AGM will take place in the Council Chamber at The Law Society, 113 Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1PL.
Our AGM (which will include the results of our election for Officers and Executive Committee members for 2025 to 2027) will start at 5.30pm. Sir Brian’s talk commences at 6pm.
Both the talk and AGM will be streamed live but will not be recorded. The session will be followed by a drinks reception for those attending in person, from about 7.30pm.
